Internal Fire Resistant Doorset Solutions

An internal fire door is a door with a fire-resistance rating and is used as part of a passive fire protection system to reduce the spread of fire and smoke between separate compartments of a structure and to enable safe egress from a building or structure.

Fire-resistant Doorsets

Commonly a flat entrance door (FED) mostly, the only entry point in to a dwelling, and leads into a protected corridor. Other examples include a door between protected corridors (cross corridor doors), or a dwelling and garage or service/ storage area within a protected corridor. Are doors where resistance to fire and spread of smoke is a requirement.

Some of the above application must include a self closing device, where others must be kept closed/ locked. These doorsets are subject to testing under BS476 or EN1634 series, where a product range is detailed as part of an extensive testing programme and professional assessment under a controlled document known as a field of application.

The field of application is produced by an approved body and is for what is commonly known as ‘national application’.
